Clutch slipping?
Discussion
Not sure wether what I have been experiencing is the clutch slipping or something else, can't think what else it could be.
Basically when accelerating from say 40-50 in top there are occaisions when the revs rise faster than the car accelerates (best described as behaving like an auto!), once the road speed catches up with the engine everything continues as normal.
However the clutch behaves fine when setting off the bite point hasn't changed, still about 1/2 way up the pedal travel. There is no judder or other indication of oil contamination. Aslo the car is not really using any oil.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Hi SwanJack, I'll keep an eye out for you round Swansea (i assume SwanJack is short for "Swansea Jack"?). Saw a black Chim this afternoon, caught it up on the dual carriageway from Wychtree (M4 J45)to the underpass at Llansamlet, I was getting off to go to Halfords, didn't get the reg. Anyone from here?

Great, after only 10 days of ownership that's exactly what mine is doing.
Glad to hear it was only £500, I had fears it would be much worse.
I guess these things should be done at a TVR specialist rather than a Mr Clutch or something?
That's up to you, but I wouldn't let a "Mr. Clutch" anywhere near a car of mine. I got mine done at Offords.

Gearbox has to come out as part of the process so best left to the specialists.

Anyone know what make the clutch is, is it a standard rangerover/landrover one?
Not a standard part. Plenty in the archives on this, so try a search. But in short, you'll not know what sort of replacement/ancillary parts are required until the old unit is out.

Also worth changing the release bearing and pivot arm at the same time and checking oil seals.

AFAIK, it's a TVR part and the 400 uses one kind and the 450/500 use a heavier duty one.
