Planning a trip up north next month.Route will be up M6/A74 /M8/Clyde Tunnel / A82 to just north of Fort William.
Am aware of one or two places on the A/M74, such as Abington over bridge, the last bit of the M74 ,before the M8 , fixed cameras in Glasgow ,and one or two places north ,as Bridge of Orchy/ Glencoe ski entrance . But any more collection sites would be welcome . All input welcome .

Just watch most of the bridges on the Dumfries and Galloway section for mobile vans. They are quite common features. Also at the end of the M6 they sometimes sit near the weighbridge just after Carlisle. I live just a few miles from Abington and the van is nearly a permanant feature on the bridge there. Also at Douglas and Lesmahagow on ramp north and southbound, they sometimes sit on the slip road hidden away so you wont see them until its too late.
Best just taking care on the '74.

Thanks .I've seen the van on the Abington bridge- almost invisible till the last. Spent a couple of weekends working in that area and our route on/off the M74,from hotel, was that bridge . Best just taking care on the '74.

Cairn Lodge Services is probably the cheapest of the 74 stations. The one after Carlisle, Todhills Rest Area I think, also used to be cheap. Cairn Lodge is 147.9 for diesel, havent looked at petrol prices.
Todhills was closed for refurbishment last time I passed but yes, it was significantly cheaper. Best coming off at Carlisle (Junc 43) and heading into Carlisle, there's a Tesco petrol station about 500yds on the right. Great for a pee and a quick refill before you cross the border and immediately think "Ahhh, home soil... I'm safe now" and proceed to nail it past Gretna services at 120mph before remembering Scottish traffic cops don't care what nationality you are and nor are they likely to be pulling you over simply to welcome you home. Todhills services has re-opened and is currently selling at "town" prices,
not "M-way" prices.
I pass this Shell services very often and it's cheaper (for years) than many towns and is usually the best price compared to Scottish prices.not "M-way" prices.
There's a Costa there (converted Little Chef).

Ah I was meaning save petrol as in slow down whilst in D&G! But yeah Todhills is the best place to top up if you think you wont make it to wherever you're going!
Post was more of a heads up as to where the cash collectors are hiding . Fuel wise, I got Hamilton lined up as a good place to fill up. But I'd rather not get a welcome home note from D & G coin collectors. Hence the request for an up to date mention of latest hidy holes for the vans .
