Feeding the vultuers

I've been at my current job for a fair while now and although it isn't necessarily time to jump ship, I'd like to get a feel for the market (and maybe some attractive offers if possible!).

I've got a few recruiters on LinkedIn and am thinking of shooting over my CV. I've never done this before, so does anybody have any tips/advice/don't do's when doing this?

Obviously don't want to end up with the news getting back to my current employer...

Any advice much appreciated!

My advice would be to make the thread title more informative. Anything that mentions recruiters usually gets some interest. NEVER tell a recruiter who you are currently working for.

Absolute nonsense. I wouldn't deal with a candidate that didn't tell me where he worked.

It's the same principal where recruiters don't tell you the company name of their client.

How do you not tell a recruiter where you work when they approach you through LinkedIn?

That's nonsense anyway.

OK, if Original Poster is your recruiter then you can tell him where you work, and if you contact someone through Linkedin then apparently they wil know anyway.

Other than that, just remember that you are never going to be a recruiter's customer. The employers are the customers. Recruiters usually have plenty of people looking for jobs (unless dealing with something really specialised), what they need is customers. And a firm which has an employee who wants to leave is a potential customer...

Even the RCs who post here admit that 80% of their colleagues are not all they might be.

Also remember to do your own research on the prospective company and DONT rely on a recruiters perspective, in general.

They only get paid when you start your job!!!

Why not try and find your own job, that way you are showing initiative, saving your new potential employer money AND the chances of any misinformation are greatly reduced too.
