This would be the exact reason the Pod has a 'no press beyond this point' sign.......a camera man right next to the wall at 1000ft is asking for trouble!
That's certainly true. This was an ADRL race I think so the camera man was effectively in the shut down which is still not great, but does happen. eurodragpics said:
with the way the back end lifted up when it went round I wonder if nascar style roof flaps would of kept it between the walls?
I've wondered that before, pro stocks and the new generation of pro mods when they get crossed up at speed seem to develop a lot of lift under the rear end, even a 1" high vertical strake at either edge of the roof would helpdodgeomini said:
What causes promod/or similar cars to turn so violently? Is it due to the short wheelbase? Or is it because they are out of the groove and one tyres digging in more than the other? Seems to happen sometimes when they reach the centreline.(Not always.)
Once one tyre is spinning the tyre that is gripping turns the car. Not as much of an issue for dragsters and funny cars because their tyres are closer together. On a bike you woukd just see wheelspin in a straight line. Once out the groove one tyre spins. Burndown said:

Is that one of the reasons why ADRL only runs 1/8mile? There maybe other contributing factors such as the lighweight chassis etc. I heard they are just plain unsafe to drive a 1/4mile.dodgeomini said:

I think the ADRL cars are lighter, and not safe for 1/4 mile due to that.Door cars get steered by there wheels in lots of classes to varying degrees, I suppose it just causes bigger accidents in the quicker classes. It also happens when a car is running and gets fluids under one slick.

And people are moaning about the new catch fence going up pitside....
Glad to see Lizy was OK.
I was staring straight into Robert Joostens pro mod roof/wall encounter at the pitside fence here:Glad to see Lizy was OK.

I remember using a slang term for excrement then being relieved that no one was injured, most of all me
.So, you won't catch me moaning about that particular new bit of screening!
Then there's the numerous view restricting advertising boards hanging off it....wtf? All the same sponsor too, hmmm...not exactly getting endeared to that brand name if it gets in the way of a good view.
Right, where's me coat....

It would be nice to see what they could do but its probably not worth the risk. Iam not sure if I misread it but there 60fts are mental. 0894 60ft I believe. Not all of them do that though.Door cars get steered by there wheels in lots of classes to varying degrees, I suppose it just causes bigger accidents in the quicker classes.
