Disappointed with a fellow TVR owner.
Discussion
I had a spare pair of sleeved cans that someone was interested in.
I left them with Ian at Torque RVT and the interested party later had them fitted along with other work.
I had asked for £100
About 8 weeks ago I called the guy who, having not paid for them and driving round with them on his Tuscan, and asked when he was paying.
The conversation went,
Him "there not worth £100.
Me "make me an offer "
Him "the carbon sleeve on one is split"
Now having cleaned them before they were removed ......
Me "OK bring them back and they will be good back ups for myself"
Him "My old ones are with Ian" ?
Me "I don't want your old ones for the same reason you don't want them, they look naff"
Him OK I'll bring them back when I have the car serviced"
8 weeks later I am ready to pay the ignorant tw@t a visit and fit his old cans where the sun don't shine.

Poor show. He should be ashamed.
Pretty rare in the PH/TVR community though; I've never had any issues with anyone here or TVRCC. Please don't let this sorry episode colour your opinion of PHers in general; overall very good bunch of like-minded people. And a few awkward so-and-so's - but I'd still trust 'em.

if he knows the price was £100, and he is driving around with them on his car, he has no right to say they are worth any less than that, if he`s not happy with the price then he shouldn`t have put them on, bad show, give him a coupleof days to pay up, or name and shame, as he will be giving the rest of us a bad name

There are a few unfortunately.
I bought a P/S rack off a known guy on here, when I fitted it, it was apparent that it had a significant amount of play in it.
When he was told this fact he said that was the risk buying secondhand, no refund!
To be fair that is a bit different. Did he tell you it was fine? did you ask if there was any play?I bought a P/S rack off a known guy on here, when I fitted it, it was apparent that it had a significant amount of play in it.

If he misrepresented it then he is a s
t, if it was sold with no statement about condition then it is caveat emptorAlexdaredevilz said:

I see your point, but why sell a part to a fellow ph if it's f
ked?
Fair comment. The only answer is that many people are self serving and greedy, unfortunately in some cases car ownership or being in the same group makes no difference. I had a fellow surfer run off with my new custom surfboard whilst I was half out of my wet suit. I see your point, but why sell a part to a fellow ph if it's f
ked?Mind you, he may not have known it was f
ked. Plenty of TVR owners seem to know very little about cars, I have met Tuscan owners who have never even removed the bonnetEdited by blueg33 on Friday 27th April 09:00

Statement was, "I believe it has recently been overhauled"!If he misrepresented it then he is a s
t, if it was sold with no statement about condition then it is caveat emptorAt £650 for the rack, pump, reservoir and a few ancilleries, it wasn't cheap.
You wouldn't believe the email excuses.
We were off out for a picnic on a nice sunny day when we saw a Griff with the bonnet up on the other side of a dual carriageway.
Initially I thought at least it is a Griff owner and laughed (joke) but then my Mrs insisted we went back to see if we could help.
Despite him being a Griff owner (joke) we drove miles to the next roundabout and went back.
The owner dispensed with any hellos, thanks for stopping etc and said "it just stopped".
He didn't have a clue, after a bit of a poke around I had some idea.
To cut a long story short it needed a piece of wire to make the car go, we didn't have one.
I wandered off round the back of some garages to find some (don't ask) and came back with a suitable piece.
With some bits and pieces I already had with me I got it going but told him to disconnect it when he got home because it wasn't a proper fix.
He asked will it get me home, I said 100%.
He got in the car and left without even saying thank you, leaving me covered it shid and us starring at each other thinking "WTF".
At some point he had asked if I posted on PH and when I told him my screen name he said he had seen my posts.
Haven't heard from him so far, but that was only 9 years ago so he will probably PM me to thank me soon
Moral of the story never stop to help Griff owners
