Clio and tall drivers
Discussion
I'd never driven a Clio before until a couple of weeks back when I got one as a hire car when mine was in for service. Can't remember the reg plate but it was about 10 yr old I think, not the current model anyway. I'm 6'3 and 16st and could fit in okay, but the first thing I noticed was the steering wheel being so low down. WTF is that all about?! It wasn't adjustable either, and neither would the seat go down any further. A really weird driving experience as I'm used to my hands being at lower chest level when holding the wheel, not down between my legs somewhere! I thought it was quite amusing but then I do have a strange sense of humour..

There's a You Tube TG 182 review where Clarkson says something similar. Said the Clio was loveable for its character - although there was alot not to laugh at, cheapness of construction etc. He fitted in though... matc said:
I'm 6'3" and had a 182 when they first came out - gave me no problems in terms of comfort, I actually found it a much better drive than the Elise that followed it!
Go and have a sit in one, there should be one in a local garage somewhere.
I owned an Elise a while back. That was tight! Mod'd the seat in the finish. Thanks for the input though. Go and have a sit in one, there should be one in a local garage somewhere.
If the seat feels a bit high, there are some washers between the subframe and car that you can remove. Drops the seats approx 8mm. The recaro trendlines in the Trophy don't actually sit that low (as they use the original Renault subframe), there are far better seats out there if you're willing to change.

This. I removed the washers from my Ph1 172 and despite them only being around 10mm, it made quite a difference. I've heard the Recaros do sit high and I'm not sure if there is a lower subframe that could be used. You might prefer to get a standard 182/182 Cup and then change the seats for something else with lower subframes.other than that, you'll be alright
