Clio 172 Cup a big drop?
Discussion
I currently have an EP3 Civic Type-R 2003. I bought it for a bargain price of £3000 in February with only 74k on the clock. Now due to my mum leaving my dad my mum is a bit short of money and I said I would offer to sell my EP3 for £3-4k and buy a Clio 172 Cup for £2k and lend my mum the change until she sold our house.
Now the boring stuff is out the way.....Would An EP3 to a 172 Cup Ph2 be a big drop or would I still be just as happy with my car?
I know they are close competitors, but have any EP3 owners gone to a Cliosport and never looked back?

I'd be happier with the Clio personally.
I was, in fact; after driving the Civic and the Integra I bought the 172 Cup. Both Hondas have a great engine/gearbox combo, but thats all; the steering and chassis on the Clio is better. More playful/responsive.
Anyway, best to try one.
Seems like a lot of hassle to go through for £1000 though.

Is it worth the hassle? - you will have to factor in costs of changing insurance mid-term -
Also if the new car has bits that need changing or doing you might find it eats into your £1000.
Stuff like new tyres, MOT, TAX etc.
Its very commendable you are helping your Mum but I would say there are better ways in attaining £1000. ( I do realise I dont know the ins and outs of your situation and this might be your only option)
Would it be possible for you to contribute little by litte rather than a 1K lump sum?

Better and easier option.
Yeah more background information needed haha.....
My cars are insured through a works fleet policy so changing is pretty simple.
I'm already paying rent, but it's not how much money that is the issue, because if I preferred the Cliosport then I'd be tempted to keep it anyway. I'm more interested in whether I would miss my EP3. I love the Vtec raspy noise, the seats and driving position and the excellent gearbox. But as this is only going to be a weekend car and used for the occasional trackday then would I prefer the chuckability of the 172?
