WELL DONE TO KERRIDGES

hi all

i'm 3 months now in to chimaera ownership and bought my p&j from kerridges suffolk
i don't normaly buy from a dealer but this car looked good so i went ahead with the purchase
one thing that made me buy from them was there 6 months warranty the first 3 months comes
under there good will warranty which means "anything" thats goes wrong with the car they will put
right and replace parts etc which you dont get from most tvr dealerships

over the last 3 months they have attended to various small jobs to my chim that required doing
and as to there word everything i asked them to do has been repaired / replaced or checked

now i think thats great peace of mind when you first own a tvr and helps to keep your costs down

Thanks for the post and your e-mail, I'm glad we've lived up to your expectations. I know that as I work here I'm biased but I do beleive we offer something "extra" with the way we do things here.

Now all we need is some decent weather so you can get out and enjoy driving your car!

Aren't all cars bought 2nd hand for a dealer covered for 3 months under SOGA? Vague memory says not for wear & tear items or if its been misused, (maybe this warranty extends beyond SOGA), but any other problem can be argued as selling a defective car or unfit for purpose. ON the face of it this warranty just coincides with the same legal protection anyway. Start the warranty one day after SOGA protection expires and Id be muchly more impressed.

Happy to be utterly wrong as its been a long time since I bought a dealer car so havent read up on this for a while.

I'm not sure of the actual laws on this but this is the first time I've heard of a dealer who will happily sort problems out 'no questions asked' whether the law says they have to or not!

to answer the other question on car dealers 3 months warranty
i have found that when you buy a car you will get a minimum of 3 months mechanical breakdown cover
this is only mechanical it wont cover smaller things like door locks, ht leads , sump oil leaks etc

and as far as i know thats all you get is MECHANICAL BREAKDOWN the part covered is only replaced if it breaks down
not wear and tear , at kerridges if your clutch was to wear out you would be covered and
any other item would be fixed if it stopped working in the first 3 months

Similar experiences from me - I bought my second Griff from Stephen in 2008, just a couple minor niggles sorted out remotely very speedily at the time. Not only that, but the car was a great example and a credit to how they had looked after it for the previous owner. It has been almost faultless since too (should I have said that!).

Oh no, Im not "dissing" the dealer at all, "no questions asked" is a mighty and refreshing change to normal dealer practices. but niggling doubts in my head whether the warranty was much more than the law required anyway.
