Was going to come over and have a chat but you had left. Far from ideal weather (6.5c, windy and wet) but interest in your speed.

Hi

Very wet. Managed to hit 190 recorded before I scared myself with 147 mph slide in the braking zone. These cars are very stable above 150 in the wet on cut slicks but getting there and back for me was comical especially on wet concrete just before the main straight.

Theoretically, with porsche tt six speed and a redline of 7500 I should hit around 220. I may have to take off the wing and mirrors that. On Ted's advice I took off the top rear spoiler to reduce drag.

Sorry we didn't speak but it was good to see another ultima against the porkers and other german barges ;-)

Will be bringing the ultima back to Bruntingthorpe for the next vmax! Great speed to get in the weather and i did notice you were going more sideways than straight for a few hundred yards from the start. Doubt i would have taken my in the weather.

Mystic met convinced me that the weather would be good. Obviously wrong. I kept the engine ticking over to prevent the engine bay filling up and it seemed to have worked. Also trailered it to the event and sealed up all the engine vents for travelling. However lights ended up with water in them from the inside and I had to seal up the fuse box and ECU to prevent water coming in. The hot air vents and wiper worked a treat so not just a fair weather car then

Still impressed on how stable Ultima's are at speed and in the wet with very little flapping of bodywork. I have American Speed Engine LS7 based engine in the back and that seemed to pull like a train in all gears and all speeds. Ted did say it would see 195 easily and last 25 would be slow in coming due to drag. I look forward to proving him right!

Mine used to get up to 165 on original gearbox and 180 on a higher gearing running an AS SBC. Now on LS7 with cam change so should see a bit more. Did you notice the door opens at the top at speed?

Only on braking did I get a draft from upper left side of the door, which was bizarre. This disappeared once the car dropped below 160-170.
