I have had my 944s2 for 1.5yrs and its a great car but getting ichy feet and was thinking about a change.

i have looked at and driven:
WRX wagon - looks are a tad bland
WRX - boy racer styling
V6 - golf - not crazy enought
M3 - high running cost
996 - engine issues
vx220 - not enought space for camping stuff.

today i went and looked at a Mk1 3.2 V6 with DSG, it was Great fun has four seats and i think meets all my needs. its not as Raw as the 944s2, but i thought it was great fun.

I think i could get about £6,500 - £5,500 for mine, so i do not think it would be a great price difference between the two.

I get the train monday - friday, so this would be a weekend car. I want a fun car and be able to fit the tent and camping stuff in it.

i am looking at spending under £10k......

what are your thoughts? - am i going to buy the TT and within a number of weeks wish i had not bothered or is this a gd idea?

thanks

Remember, a TT is a Golf underneath. It won't have the same feel as that Porsche.

Gotta be the Porka, it's hot property right now. They're gonna be collectors cars soon...

Keep the Porsche, you will miss it badly if you dont have it (I certainly know the feeling frown)

On another note yours looks cracking! Same colour combo as my dads (Baltic Blue with Linen leather interior right?). We need more pics!

The car is great fun, but planning a Europe road trip later this year and a newer TT would be far easer.

but when i got back into the porsche after the TT test drive i realised how alive the porsche make you feel and in the TT its a bit more settled/normal...

Your 944 looks superb and that is an excellent colour for a 944.

TT V6 are great value, nicer to drive than 225 as the engine has some character to it, lovely inside, a bit quicker than the S2. The TT will feel bang up to date compared to the 944.

I love my 944's but they do feel old once you get used to a modern car (feels old as in the interior controls, no a/c or airbags, heavy PAS) but the 944 is a great machine to drive and the TT will never give you that involvement with driving. Just fast, smooth, very capable.

Unless that S2 is superb and spotlessly maintained I'm afraid 6.5K is rather optimistic beautiful though it is. £5.5K maybe but check the market very carefully.

I can't see a trip to Europe would be any easier other than maybe peace of mind being in a newer car.

Personally (and I am biased) I'd keep the 944.

Apparently blue dashes are more prone to cracking. No idea why.

Keep the 944 the TT will never be in the same league.

Remember when new the 944 was the same as the 911 price wise why downgrade

Sure the TT look ok ish from some angles but the 944 vert mmm I'd love one. Always have always will.
I just dislike the engine noise that's it and it's a fine engine note I just wished it would be a v6 or I6 or I5.

If you have narrowed it down to keeping the 944 or getting into a TT (any TT)..keep the Porker. It looks lovely by the way

Maybe an S2000 could be an option if you are set on getting rid of the 944

Speaking as a fellow 944 cab owner, think you will miss it. think the TT is a bit safe and easy, the 944 asks a bit more of you and rewards, despite not being that fast, a bit wobbly and ancient. The TT seems capable, pleasant and sounds nice but I dont think it has the edge. my next move would be a full on 944 Turbo coupe with all the suspension mods and 350 bhp but will keep the cab I think.

The S2000 does seem more appropriate, there is always the 968 as well, like the S2, with a bit more of everything.

If you're hesitating then keep the 944, its done all its depreciation but the titty will still lose money. In a years time if you decide the Porsche isn't for you then get a TT, nothing to lose doing that.
Also for a euro cruise the Audi might be better for the 1 day you spend going there, but for the rest of the time while you are there the 944 will feel a lot more special.
