Hi all,
I've just bought a 1993 SL500 and need to join a club to fulfill the promise I made to the insurance company so I could get a discount on the classic car insurance policy.
The question is which one? I have looked at Mercedesclub and Mercedes-benz-club but cant decide which to go for.
Some back ground - 45 years old, Mercedes is a replacement for my kitcar, which was replacement for a Scimitar GTE SE5a, which was replacement for a Morris Minor. Other hobbies - stationary engines, gardening and beer.
The car will be maintained by me so what I really need is access to good advice and reasonable price consumables and parts.
So far very impressed with the car, as fast as the kitcar but it doesn't hit a brick wall at 80mph, all while sitting in heated seats, and it does more mpg.
Thanks
Steve

I've got a slightly older SL (107 420) and found the Mercedes - Benz Club to be an absolute mine of information to help with keeping it in good shape. You have access to the MB electronic parts catalogue, which is invaluable for older cars, and a huge range of discounts available from various suppliers, including participating MB dealers.
I can't recommend the MB club highly enough. I saved more on the insurance than the cost of the annual subscription.
I, too, built and owned kit cars previously and do all my own maintenance on the SL, so was looking for a club that could provide me with all the info I needed, including specialist help where necessary.
Hope that helps.

Another recommendation for the Mercedes Benz club from me .
This club is affiliated to the company and provides excellent value for money . Included in the annual subscription is the superb Mercedes Classic ,magazine (published quarterly) , and of course technical assistance / moral support at the end of the 'phone .
