OK, help me out here PH. I'm looking to import a car into Canada, so import guidelines and budget set me a target, two rules:

1. 15 years old.
2. £15K absolute max, preferably closer to £10K.

So apart from a Caterham 7 and a TVR Griffith, what other options would be interesting to drive (and relatively easy to maintain) over this side of the pond? Preferably RWD.

I would imagine you can already get the previous suggestions in canada, In fact there is a caterham dealer in vancouver too so you can get those (or at least there was 4 years ago, but they wont sell you a kit due to regulations)

How about an old landrover, you might even be able to use it in the winter too.

If you want sports the griffith would be a good call, as would things like triumph spitfire etc

Already available in Canada, so he might as well buy a local one and enjoy sitting on the correct side of the car, this would be the same no doubt with the majority of mainstream cars. If the OP is looking to import, he will no doubt be looking to get something which is not routinely available or significantly cheaper in the UK (bearing in mind it will cost a few k to ship) and potentially he might be able to sell on in a few years

Defenders and series landrovers are pretty rare in Canada because they only got imported for a couple of years, older british sports cars are also popular with a decent support network.

If you like the Griffith 500, why not also look for a Chimaera 500? (Same engine, etc)

You would find a much better example for your budget too. evil

I'd be inclined to look for LHD stuff they didnt get over there like
Alfa Romeo 155 Q4.
The Q4 holds a big price premium over the normal models, but they can be got for about 5-6k which makes it a lot cheaper than the car they borrowed the engine and 4wd system from...
Lancia Delta integrale. Right at the top end of the budget though.

I had an Exige so don't really want an Elise, want to try something else.

NSX you can get over here, not a fan of 911's. Yes, I'm looking for something that was not sold in Canada.

The caterhams you can get over here are ridiculously expensive, $50K+ for the base model.

Much as I would love a good Defender, I wouldn't get to use it off-road much, which would be a shame.

Interesting comment on the Griffith/Chimaera, why would say £13K get me a much better Chimaera than a Griffith?

The Lancia Integrale Evo is a great suggestion, just the sort of thing I was looking for! But I always thought that a good one would be out of my price range..? Are parts easy to order?

Are there any V6 Alfa's that are great to drive and don't rust?
