Panda 100hp Prices
Discussion
I've kept a keen eye on the market now for about 3weeks and they're all over the place, very hard to read.
Anything on ebay doesn't seem to be selling/getting many bids at all if any. Autotrader prices vary greatly.
My budget will be £4500 and I expect to find a 30k'ish 07-09 plate. I've seen some at £7000 and some at £4995 but very little is moving.
It makes it very hard to acsertain what they're worth!

There's a red 100hp on autotrader for £4.2k. 07 plate with 36k miles on it. Not a bad price, so something like that would be reasonable value. You may need to travel to get the right car, just don't overspend because the trade in value is miles from what's being sold. Cambelt needs to be changed at five years, but that's a cheap bit of work (£200 ish).
Yep, there's an 07 with 20k near me for £4250.
But next to none seem to be selling. I offered £4500 on an early 09 with 30k but said they wanted £5500. It didn't get one bid on eBay, neither have any of the 20 or so others...
Good info re: Cam belt, thanks.
There's an 08 in Scotland for £4995 with 26k miles in blue. Want!

Ours might be for sale in September (57 plate) but its done starship mileage for a Panda (72k) and is a bit rough around the edges (internally the mechanicals are fine but the outside has picked up a few dings - nothing major).
Cracking car, we've used ours hard and its never let us down, personally I'd no idea what I'd value it at, but to the trade a month ago when we enquired it was about £2700.

I bought one 2 weeks ago, 08 plate, 34k miles, excellent condition for £4500.
I based this on the Parkers 'book' price of £4655 for a good condition private example and haggled a bit as I was the only person who had come to see it.
The issue seems to be that there are a lot of 57/07 examples out there with high milages, which dealers are pricing quite high. This knocks on to many private sellers pushing their prices too high as well. The only thing they have on their side is the relative rarity which means you'll struggle to look at more than 2 on the same day without driving hundreds of miles.
Annoyingly, it seems to be a 'hurry up and wait' senario until a properly priced one comes up. It'll be worth it though as I love mine!

I've just bought a 20k 07 one from a dealer for £4450. Love it.
The prices haven't moved much in the last year, so I reckon if you buy at a sensible price (rather than some of the inflated prices dealers are asking for high milers) then it should be a car that only costs a few hundred a year in depreciation.

Can you owners give me a quick review, whats the real mpg figures?
Maintenance costs? Road Tax?
Anything to watch out for? (Bar Cambelt..)
The roadtest on evo.co.uk is accurate. Great car.Maintenance costs? Road Tax?

My summary.....
As a sportscar: On a wet, twisty road it is capable of embarrassing much faster cars
As a drivers' car: Engaging handling, easy to balance on the throttle (get one without ESP) sharp steering, fantastic grip. Reminds me of an 80s hot hatch. (Similar power to weight as a 205Gti 1.6 or Uno Turbo)
As a city car: Perfect. Compact, great visibility, easy to drive smoothly on non-sport setting. But the ride is so hard that you actively avoid speedbumps.
As a motorway car: Surprisingly good. Refined, solid, less road and engine noise than many cars a class above. Supportive seats. The ride seems to settle down to a firm but comfortable poise the faster you go!
As an economy car: Today going to work on a 70mph road for 20 miles followed by a 40mph road for 5 miles I averaged 49mpg in non-sport setting. But it is really difficult to drive this car below the speed limit! Normally, driving it briskly I get 42-44mpg and driving it like it really wants to be driven I get about 35mpg.
Problems: None on this car, but we've had three Pandas in the family. All of them have collected water in the scuttle under the bonnet, which is cured by simply removing the bung! One of them had a heater sensor go and it required an expensive dash-out job to replace it. I've heard this is something to look out for, along with power steering failures from either ecu or motor failure. fiatforum.co.uk has some advice.
Overall: Very recommended. It makes me smile

Agree with the above, just a couple more comments.
My car is equipped with ESP and I don't find it intrusive, you can turn off the traction control (labelled ASR) and electronics don't interfere.
I do about 100 miles a day, and most of that on high speed roads. Struggle to get 40mpg, but never had a single problem.
Ride can be improved with replacement dampers / shocks. I haven't found the seats particularly supportive, but a cheap lumbar support has sorted that.

How do you know if the car has ESP? I read about looking for one without it but never managed to see a button to turn it on/(partially) off if it was there!
Where would I find the ASR system?
Cheers
If there's a button labelled "ASR OFF" next to the hazard warning lights button in the central consol, it has ESP.Where would I find the ASR system?
Cheers
Road tax is quite high at around £155 per year. Service costs are quite good, I get mine serviced at northgate fiat in Canterbury, the best fiat garage in Kent... Just had its third service, don't think I've paid more than £250 on a service. Tyres cost between £65 and £90 per corner for non ditch finders. Mine came with eagle f1 gds3, I'm running Yokos sdrives at the moment, I wouldn't recommend them they ruined the ride. I get out Over 280 miles to a tank (35ltr) if you sit On the motorway at 55mph the obc says 53mpg...in 19 months and41000 miles all that ive needed is a gear knob as the gatter split. That's it, excellent car. I bought mine as a school run car untested just went on evo sayso..
I'm running vredestein sportrac 3s on mine. Faultless, and brilliant in the wet. On my secon set and wouldn't swap to anything else. Uni royal Rainsports also get a good write up.
The 195/50 size is a much cheaper tyre, but not something I have experience of.
Servicing - its a simple car and can be looked after by a decent independent. I have a fiat specialist whose half the price of a main dealer..
