Buying a 100K + Mile MK 2.5
Discussion
Looking at getting MK 2.5 sport (2002) it has just over 107 thousand miles on it.
I'm a bit concerned about re sale value. They are asking £3000 for it, is this a little expensive or about right?
Obviously rust is an issue but this car seems clean, what things should I be looking at in a car of this age??
Cheers

Recent cambelt and waterpump? Off the top of my head it's a 54k interval. Bar the normal checks for rust etc. there's nothing extra I would look out for.
Mine has done just shy of 91k miles and is sweet as it ever has been since I picked it up (at 66k) and it has been thrashed all of the time!

In which case it probably is still a little on the expensive side but with added peace of mind.
When I bought my Mini it had a 3 month warranty so as soon as I got it I checked it out all over and tested everything. Within 3 months it had a new gearbox, 2 new headlights and a new passenger seat mechanism.
You need to check it out very thoroughly for rust in the sills particularly as the warranty probably won't cover that and if it is indeed very clean & solid then it might be a good buy.
