Help. Been a huge dingus. Removing throttle idle screw with ratchet spanner, starts getting a bit tight. Wonder why, then realise i have managed to wedge the spanner against the engine! Now I cant undo error and can't finde a way to wind the screw back in! What a tit. Any ideas?

I remember doing this when changing the diff oil on my ZT V8, i had to cut the spanner in half to be able to screw it back in enough to remove the spanner. Learnt my lesson. So easy to do with racket spanners. As for a solution, cant really help.

I've done something similar in the past - just grab the end of the bolt with some long nose pliers and hopefully you can wind the screw back enough to get the spanner off. Failing that you can get the screw piece out but it may/will damage the screw. If you put a big flat head screwdriver as close as you can to the bolt head but still on the spanner insert/attachment bit and tt the end of it with a big hammer. It will either snap the screwdriver insert/attachment in the spanner or strip enough of the head off the bolt to get the screwdriver attachment out.

I hate it when things like this happen to me but with enough time and a big enough hammer I always manage to bodge my way out.

Good luck.

Tim.

Do NOT use a hammer or force, you will stand a very real risk of fracturing the casting that your spanner is jamed against!!!

Cut the throttle screw with a dremel or a junior hacksaw and your spanner will come out fine. Just replace the screw with a stainless one. M5 I think
