I am sitting here waiting on a call to go and collect my new(to me)car.

I am the proud owner of a 2002 Clio 172.

I have sat at home all day waiting and now I'm getting frustrated...

To be fair it has had teething issues but they are now sorted.

In fairness, out of 6 people I know who have had 172/182s (myself included), only 1 has had a good experience where the car hasn't been a pain in the arse. It isn't for buying cheap ones either, they have been from right across the price ranges and a good range of specs.

They can be problematic cars, IME.

Any car can be problematic if its not looked after properly/not serviced regularly. Buy on condition and you should be ok.

The 3 people I know who have them are still running fine and and 1 of them is nearly at 110k

Any car can be problematic if not looked after, most french cars are problematic even when cherished and maintained well above spec. There are a few "french cars are unreliable" deniers on ph-they are retarded and/or dishonest french car owners/salesmen. Survey after survey french cars get rubbish scores for reliability, the evidence is undeniable by those with triple digit iq's.

Thru work I drive french cars and vans everyday fwiw. (not my choice!)
