350i Recommissioning Advice (Oh & Look What I've Bought)
Discussion
Out of the blue a friend with too many cars offers me his 350i for a price I can not refuse. I've always hankered after some RWD V8 fibreglass british machinery, I thought about it for may be 10 seconds!

It has sat dry for a couple of years ever since something went wrong with the fuel pump, no fuel coming through and no sound from the pump. Other than that there was nothing wrong.
Other than a full service and fix the fuelling issue is there anything else I should be looking at?
Oh and this is my first TVR & first V8 I can't wait to get her on the road.

As you say a "full service" but by sombody who knows TVR's, sort out the fuel system and of course a MOT should put you on the road. Which should mean you can come to BBWF and shows us all that's it on the road again! It has sat dry for a couple of years ever since something went wrong with the fuel pump, no fuel coming through and no sound from the pump. Good luck!

Thanks guys, I've still to move her to my place, when I do I'll get some more pictures uploaded.
I did have another look this evening, chassis looks good from what I can see, rear brakes are stuck on however and all 4 tyres shot. Thankfully I have a trailer with a winch.
I'll have to do all the work myself (mid major house renovation), I am pretty handy though, have friends with a wealth of knowledge and have conquered most jobs in the past.
I'm sure she will still be a steep learning curve but I am looking for a distraction from decorating.
Watch this space.

I'm recomissioning my 350i currently.
If your rear brakes are stuck on, I'd STRONGLY recommend taking the bull by the horns and stripping and rebuilding the rear brake system.
Inboard Jag brakes, notoriously never get serviced because of their position. Having had my brake calipers off, three of the four pistons were rusted in solid!
I'm convinced this is the reason wedges have a reputation for having 'bad brakes' - along with E-types and the like. It's probably because the rears aren't working at all!
Good look with it, looks tidy!

HI SUPERWEDGE HERE, i change them wheels asap ,get standard wheels back on
i think black wheels on any car does not look good ?
I think they are the standard wheels apart from someone has badly painted them black, I have a batch of parts going off with Maser_Spyder to be blasted when he's back from China, I'll see if I can get them done then.

i think this car came from colchester if it is then it has a 400se engine and brakes from a car the owner was breaking i brought a spare pair of seats from him and sold him a 390se rear wing bumper combination
Barrington, any history would be useful I've yet to dig through the paperwork for the car. Is there an easy way to tell which engine is in it?Bobrick said:

A quick clue is to take a look at the type of fuel injection system fitted: if it's the hotwire setup then it's a later engine, typically as fitted to the 400SE. If it's the older 'flapper' airflow meter that's fitted then it's an earlier engine (all 350i and 390SE had the earlier system - apart from a very few 390s I think). You could also find the engine number (nearside of the block near the front) and refer to Rimmer Bros' website where there's a list of numbers showing the various capacities, compression ratios etc.
Few updates from my first week of TVR ownership.
I've had a look through the paperwork and I have the service book complete with stamps to 64K, she is only on 68K now all from a TVR specialist in North London. She was origonally blue but the origonal owner had her repainted yellow not long after purchase by the factory. I am the 4th owner, the previous was the friend who sold her to me, loads of recipts for work over the years.
Popped a battery in her and she turns over nicley, I was suprised how little engine movement there was when cranking and how good it sounded just being turned over by the starter motor.
I have diagnosed the proglem causing her to be taken of the road, it appears the fuel pump siezed causing the fuse to blow, thankfully saving the relay. I dismantled the old pump knowing it was shot cleaned the muck out of the pump and put it back together. It works ish but gets really hot, I thought better of reusing it so I have ordered a new one and a new filter.
Few other things seem to have stoped working, left hand light does not raise, pasenger door latch is siezed and the boot lock inoperable, all seem minor.
I will take some more pics this weekend once I've had a chance to give her a wash.

if rear brakes are binding they will need to be rebuilt. I found easiest way is to remove the suspension and split the calipers.
If you can not get the passengers door lock undone, you can remove the air vent from the door, cut the hole a bit bigger and get your hand in.
The lock for rear boot can be got at by removing one of the number plate lights. If there in no obvious circuit fault.
