Just had the TPMS ping to let me know the pressure has dropped, usefully not telling me which tyre! I've had a good look around and cant see any obvious nails etc, rear offside is a little down on pressure. I presume its a puncture and will get it checked out tomorrow morning, but can these sensors be over sensitive and just go off?

What car? Most just monitor wheel speed (using the ABS sensor) - if a wheel changes speed in relation to the others, the alarm beeps. Usually it's a fair drop in pressure. Doesn't have to be a nail or anything obvious - just check all pressures and if one has dropped a bit, inflate it reset and check in a few days.

IMO all those with RFTs should carry a half decent tyre pressure gauge. I have non RFTs now but still have the TPMS and check my pressures regularly. Usually, it's nothing serious.

I have a feeling the BMW TPMS triggers at about a 6psi difference...
