Mk2 Focus Leccy Window Stuck
Discussion
Mrs Mauls 54 plate Focus, drivers side leccy window is jammed shut. Fuses ok (have swapped to be 100%) and relay clicks. Seen various links suggesting whacking window motor with hammer to free it up. Have removed 6 phillips screws to remove door trim, but its still stuck solid.
Any ideas? Have posted in Ford forum too, sorry, it should be simple thing and loathed to take to garage for it.

Did the window give any warning signs before getting stuck? I've had two windows go on my Seat over the years, and both times, the window failed suddenly after a brief moment of making crunchy "that's a bad sound" noises. On both occasions, an internal cable snapped and jammed the mechanism (in the down position both times it happened to me
).
The motor could still be heard working after the window stopped working, which meant it wasn't the motor, so I had to replace the window regulator.
Looking on ebay, the Focus window regulator seems similar to the one for my car (eg. this), so if the motor still works, it may be that your regulator is broken.

And you tried to say that was a reliable car? :P Unlucky.

TBF, it was the same window that failed twice - I blame the cheap ebay special window regulator I used the first time round... and at least my car hasn't eaten it's headgasket

My car did not eat it's headgasket. It is repaired, it ate the shoddily made Rover radiator.

And the inlet manifold gasket.
And some pipework.
Its hard to say, but listening closely, i'm sure i can hear it try and move, perhaps the mechanism is jammed.
Main issue is how to get the trim off with out using a circular saw, seen many psts that say whack the motor with a hammer but its getting to the b
d which is annoying. Fair point re 'leccy comment, just in a major silly hurry this week, sorry!

Usually, it's held on by plastic retaining clips as well as screws. The retaining clips have a fair bit of resistance before the door card pulls away. Try sliding something between door card and door, and with my car, it was suggested to pull the door card upwards to release the retaining clips more easily. Also, check for screws on the bottom edge of the door card, and maybe under the armrest plastic.
Do note that the retaining clips are quite fragile and may snap, but you can get a pack from any motor factor for a quid or two.
Edit to add:
quick google has found this handy link - http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/tutorials/art...
Which shows you the hidden arm rest screws, as well as a reverse pic showing the retaining clip locations;
