Mk3 Integrated (flip) key battery
Discussion
My other half's Mk3 came with two "Integrated" keys. One of them appears to have a flat battery. I had a look in the handbook this evening to see if there was anything to suggest how to change it and what type to get but there was nothing.
Before I go and hamfistedly destroy the key attempting to open it up, can anyone give me an idea how to go about removing the battery, and what type I need to get?
Thanks in advance

Open up the blade of the key nd look into the slot it sits in when closed - there's a little tag that you press to split the key from the remote fob
Once you have the two pieces sepereated, use a small flat blade screwdriver in the end of the remote fob (there are a couple of little indentations in the end of the casing) which will spilt the upper and lower parts of the fob, revealing the battery - its a CR2025 btw

Yup, dead easy to replace and the batteries are only about £1 each. When you flip the key up you need a very small flat screw driver, and you need to push the tap towards the key whilst pulling on the key part to separate it from the rest of the body. Then pop the top off it and change the battery, piece of cake Once you have the two pieces sepereated, use a small flat blade screwdriver in the end of the remote fob (there are a couple of little indentations in the end of the casing) which will spilt the upper and lower parts of the fob, revealing the battery - its a CR2025 btw

Just for completeness' sake, I got some CR2025 batteries and set about changing the one in the key last night - turns out it's a CR1620, not a 2025. Should have checked before I bought! Maybe they changed the spec at some point...Once you have the two pieces sepereated, use a small flat blade screwdriver in the end of the remote fob (there are a couple of little indentations in the end of the casing) which will spilt the upper and lower parts of the fob, revealing the battery - its a CR2025 btw
I've been looking for the same info on replacing my 2006 Ford Focus key battery, this may be of use to others, it covers a lot of Ford keys, mine uses a CR2032 Lithium battery. Seems pretty easy http://www.batterydragon.com/how_to.html
