I will never buy a....
Discussion
I am fairly open-minded wrt cars. I have owned 2 Fiats, a Vauxhall, a Peugeot, a Mazdas, a BMW, 3 VWs and a Subaru (incidentally the VWs, a Corrado and a mk4 Golf were the most unreliable but that wouldn't put me off buying another VW).
However, are there any makes of car for any reason other than cost or that are long defunct that you would never consider buying? I appreciate that things can change. If you asked me 10 years ago whether I would ever have considered buying a Kia or Hyundai, I would have laughed but now they are producing some quite attractive products that by all accounts are just as good as the opposition (although they don't seem to be as good value as they were).
For me, my money would be pretty safe from Proton, Daihatsu, Perodua and Ssang Yong products and Toyota for that matter. I appreciate that they have produced some good cars in the past but nothing has excited me since the demise of the Celica. Even the upcoming FT86 leaves me cold. As I suspected having driven NA Subarus, the engine is just far too gutless.
I also have a possibly irrational hatred of Renaults. I know the RenaultSport models are supposed to be pretty good but I have tried a Clio 182 and it wasn't really my thing (the new RenaultSport Megane may convince me but it's too expensive really). I guess it's because I have never known anyone who has owned a reliable Renault. My dad has owned plenty of Fiats, Citroens, Peugeots and VWs that have been totally reliable but one Renault (a 21 Savannah) which was simply awful! At least it was a comfy place to sit and wait for the breakdown truck! I have also had lots of female friends with old death trap Renault 5s and Clios that they have named and constantly make excuses for. "Oh, your car seems to have caught fire again?" "Well Pickle doesn't like it when it's too hot/too cold/too wet." "Oh, that's strange, my 205 works fine in all conditions!"
So are there any makes of car that you will never own and why will you never own one? (whether your reasoning is rational or not)!

A FRENCH CAR ( needed caps)
having driven a few and although they drive well when new. I don't think I have not heard of any owners having big and expensive problems within 10000 miles or less than a few years ownership
father had a 307sw for a year when they first came out in 2003/2004
it had some filter which was connected to a sensor which buggered up every time it was fixed
total cost of repairs came to £4800, he elbowed it quicker than you can say cheese eating surrender monkey

I totally agree I would never buy another Renault as long as I live not after owning a laguna 2, it is a shame as I had a rti 16valve mk1 which was a fantastic old motor. But then again it didn't have much in the way of electrics and I think the engine was a Volvo lump, also I have had some great old pugs but again they also have there problems now.
So nothing French post 2002 for me.

A BMW.
Great GREAT cars, ruined by the people that drive them.
What, me? I've had a go a doing some maintenance work, and serviced the thing, not sure that counts as ruining? I once put a pistonheads sticker on the back; was that it?Great GREAT cars, ruined by the people that drive them.
On topic: I'd probably never buy a Golf, for my own irrational reasons, but I'm not averse to the entire range of VWs. Brands don't figure that highly in my choice of next car.
