What would you do?

Wanted a 330d, but all the security concerns have put me off....

So, I'm looking at A4's, problem is do I go for an older (56/07) 3.0tdi Sline (top spec) or a newer (08ish) 2.0tdi in a lesser spec but still Sline....

Heart says 3.0, he's says 2.0....(budget is 14k)

Help!

330d and a disklok until a solution is found.

Definitely go 6 cylinder rather than 4, huge difference hence all the diesel 'haterz' on PH as they've only driven awful 4 pot versions.

So as much as I love my BM's we're also moving to the country so I like the idea of Quattro, it also has to be a diesel...

Depending on what its used for, the new A4 is a much nicer placer be than the newer shape 3 series or last A4 in my opinion. But its not exactly hilarious fun away from the motorways.

I cant believe one topic makes people not want a 3-series.

How many are getting nicked compared to how many are actually on the road. Its not stopping me buying one, however if someone is scared and wants to sell theirs quick and cheap, let me know wink

Lol ok so the security thing isn't the end of the world, truthfully I find both the older and latest A4's a much nicer place to sit than my current 2011 3-series. Plus it's nice to change now and again.

Pointless statement to make - if someone is looking for a diesel, it's probably because they need the economy due to the mileage they do.

Also, I am pretty sure the 3.0 Audi lump is quite a bit more reliable than the 3.0 BMW lump, based on whats reported here and honest john in the telegraph etc...

Buy the 330D and if you are that worried about theft fit an immobiliser. The 3 series is a much better car than an A4.

Obviously the 3.0 will be a quattro, but will the 2.0 be quattro too, or FWD? And 140(143?) or 170bhp?

i hate diesels and economy is a small price to pay for a nice driving car.

Do not spend £14k on an old shape Audi A4. This is a car that dates originally from 2000 and simply isn't worth £14k anymore. Good cars but not £14K cars. I'd be wanting the current shape for that, now.

This is effectively what my head is saying, Definitley want a 6 cylinder, 2.0's are out...

The one I've found is pretty nice tbh, all the toys, Bose etc, Arrgghh

Unfortunately a new shape 3.0 is about 5k over budget....
