What is the average milage to change the clutch ? Mine was changed at 19.500 mls in 2007. Now my car is on 35.000 mls.
So 16.000 mls with the clutch now fitted. Yesterday I noticed that the gearbox is having problems when shifting into first gear and reverse gear. In first gear the car already starts to move forward when releasing clutchpedal 5mm. That is why I think it is so difficult to put gearbox in first gear because clutchplate is not coming off the flywheel.

And what about the slavecylinder ? There are no leaks. Do I have to change slavecylinder as well when I replace the clutch for a new one ?

Thanks for advice.

The life of a clutch is very much down to your driving style, if you 'ride' the clutch, slip it a lot or engage in lots of traffic light GPs then you may experience very short clutch life.

I'd guess with none of the above you should be looking at 30k miles?

The first clutch on the Sagaris went at about 18k miles, but it was the fingers that went - rather than the clutch material - Second clutch has had ~5k miles without problems.

T350 but essentially the same my first clutch was changed at 13k due to broken fingers rather than actual clutch wear (which is what yours sounds like).
Swapped for a TVR Power/AP clutch and still going good at 27k (14k on the new one).

Clutch changed at just over 31000 miles.
There was still some life left in it, but not much, decided to change it while everything was in bits due to a slave cyclinder leak.

20k for the first one. 24k the second and ~30k on this one.

They must be getting better.

Is there any reason why we can't have a much more reliable clutch offering ? Is there an alternative (apart from blackiepaul's route hehe )

Do other 380bhp cars suffer the same woeful clutch life ??? I've done 150,000 miles in 200bhp RWD manual cars with a single clutch for years...

You don't have to but if you're on the original it's a good idea - cheap(ish) to do and sods law states it'll fail soon after it's all put back together if you don't.
I had mine replaced with the uprated raceproved one when my clutch was done, theoretically at least mening I won't need to do so again when my next clutch chnge comes along.

Mine went around 10k. I am now very careful where I put my left foot when not changing gear!!
