Hi, wondering if anyone can help me get it up. Or down.
E46 convertible hood has been stopping part way through it's cycle over the past couple of weeks of wonderful sunshine rolleyes
Hydraulic reservoir is full, motor under the back seats appears fine, a quick go on my indie's diagnostics showed everything operating as it should. The mechanic suggested to me that the relay that operates the hydraulic pump could be on it's way out, causing the pump to kick in and out - this is apparently exactly the same 'salmon' coloured relay the SMG pump uses on the M3. It's actually an Alpina B3, but I've posted this in the M3 section, as that's where the word salmon comes up most frequently in the search facility - hood mech is exactly the same on all E46s.
Problem is, I don't know where this salmon relay is located - couldn't see anything fishy in the relays next to the fusebox/glovebox - can anyone point me in the right direction?
Ta! smile

Thanks for that - but that looks like it applies to the US only with a secondary air emmissions thingy?
I've sussed that the SMGII relay would be here on an M3

from this thread, but don't know where the convertible top pump relay would be? My 2001 B3 has a royal blue relay in that position.
BUT, I've just been googling, again, and found this on realoem

which suggests part #5 could be the relay I am looking for.
Will have a root about under the pump soundproofing and report back.
