Not me, just a thin smear of Hylomar or similar.

I just fitted new ACT trumpets this weekend.

Hylomar is the business - no leaks at all

How did the car feel after the ACT trumpets.

Worth it?

I didn't use anything, because there wasn't anything on there. Perhaps I should.

Firstly i have a very healthy 400 - 228bhp measured a year ago. Before the new trumpets I never experienced any shunting that others on the forum have mentioned between 1500-2200 rpm.

I’ve only been out on one test run, but these are my initial findings…

The main change is throttle response, it is much sharper especially in 1st and 2nd. The overall pull in each gear is smoother too, it seems to have eradicated the hesitance you feel when accelerating in 3rd and 4th by smoothing out the power throughout the rev range.

Having a healthy engine, I can’t say it has been a revelation installing the ACT trumpets, but it has definitely improved drivability, it just seems more eager when I press on the loud pedal. I assume it has made a gain in torque and BHP across the rev range too, but not hugely.

In short, for me I think it was worth fitting them.

SC Power sell thermal insulating gaskets for 4 and 5 litre cars. Reduces heat transfer from intake manifold to trumpet base, is self sealing and reusable. Works very well.

Hi Jack, Thanks for the offer but I have already fitted an insulator and cut down the trumpets.
