Hi guys,

I'm thinking about putting a smooth bore plenum elbow on. Couple of questions though. If i do this is it best practice to also replace the straight bit going down to the air filter? Also are there actually any noticaeble performance increases ?

Secondly does anyone know the diameters of the piping because as much as i don't mind paying the price for the elbow's available on here there is somewhere on ebay that seems to do what would essentially be the same thing at varying different diameters, but for less money.... (and yes i'm aware "you gets what you pays for")

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330650756290?var=5400495...

Any thoughts and tips would be great !

AJ

The ID on the plenum side is 70 mm and the ID on the AFM (Air Flow Meter) is 80 mm, from experience you can heat the AFM elbow end up in boiling water to stretch it + you will have to cut alittle off to shorten it to make a tidy job etc.

Tip - ACT do a nice AFM to Filter smooth bore & do a bit of a deal for a complete kit.

Just checked your Fleabay link - It looks like it will do the trick - as long as its got some decent re-inforcement, other wise it may collapse under vacumn etc.

Yea i know. Well, got to start somewhere huh. When my throttle cable snapped last week i realised that the existing hose clip wasn't even done up and the hose was flapping on there. Only noticed after i'd been driving it around for about a month like that. Pretty sure just doing that up has made a difference so i imagine the Smooth bore stuff will help hugely. That and i'm thinking about putting a new pipercross filter on there...

Any thoughts ??

I should really concentrate on getting the door opener working from the inside (so i don't have to reach behind the seat and inside the panel to flick the switch to open the door)first, but this is more interesting ! ha.

Is indeed. Still a fair few things that need sorting at the moment but i think the main thing now is just getting her carpeted. Once that's done everything else can be finished off. Driving brilliant though !

I'll be glad when i get all the little niggles sorted out now though i must admit !

Just get those niggles sorted - forget smooth bore elbows until you get the annoying crud done first....

More than happy to help - just shout. smile
