I am looking for some help in locating an obsolete part for a Lumenition Optronic Mk12 system. I need a new/replacement Optronic unit that fits inside the distributor.
After two years helping my daughter restore her MG Midget it has passed its MOT only to discover that it cuts out as soon as the engine gets hot. I have isolated it down to the aforementioned unit.

If anyone has one I would be happy to buy it from them. Picture of the offending item below.

Many thanks,

I had one of these fail on a rolling road during tuning of our a-series. Ditched it and went for the magnetic version. Might be worth thinking about changing too.

Edit to add - flicking through the Demon Tweeks catalogue I see that they do supply the optical switch £78 +VAT! You can get a new magnatronic system for £84 +VAT which fits inside your existing dizzy.

Hope this helps

Thanks AWRacing,

I will give them a ring tomorrow, although Lumenition told me they hadn't made the parts for the Mark 12 for about 35 years lol.

I have a good old fashioned set of points on order for now to get her back on the road tomorrow.

ahh, whether parts are interchangable im not sure. We had 2 of the optical types fail within a couple of years of each other (car only used for racing) which is why we swapped systems.
