Just got shouted at for taking a photo of someone's house

Might at first seem strange but in the press today are flood related stories including many related to how those lovely people at insurance companies will be more than happy to drastically increase insurance premiums and add enormous and hardly affordable excesses to policies for people who have claimed or are in a regular flood area.
Thus if one's property was marginally in the wrong place related to flooding one would not want one's insurance cover threatened by some random observation of nearby floods that became evidence on which insurance policies might be based. People might be getting a little sensitive to such things?
Or of course they might just be nutters. Can you be sure they were not asking for your help in some strange foreign tongue?

They can't stop you but there are some limits on what you could do with the photo without their permission. Times like that it's best to invite them to look at the pictures on the screen
Are there? If the OP was stood in the street, what limits are there on his usage of the image he took, assuming the house in question is not say a National Trust property...?
