Perhaps he was genuinely curious if you could hear it once the car is at speed.

To be fair about the only think he wouldn't know about the car if he was a car man but had never been in one himself is the quality of the stereo.

Mines on its way out and it's bugging the hell out of me. I've already had to replace the origianal alarm system and now the early '90's stereo is dong an impression of a dying swan

About a year ago, when I had a 997, I developed a flat battery and had to call out the AA. After showing up he told me that 911s were nice but that if he had the money he'd get a Ford Focus. I'm still trying to make sense of that remark.
