Not a what car with any real criteria but a hypothetical one.

What would you buy/recommend to someone who has no real interest in anything other than getting from A to B with as little fuss in as much comfort as possible and without having to visit garages for more than routine stuff?

As it's for someone who doesn't care about cars I think a £10k ceiling is in order.

My suggestion is an Automatic beige Volvo.

Mondeo titanium tdi. Good spec, interior is a nice enough place to be, good on fuel and nice to drive.

Some Pacific basin estate thing with a decent warranty and enough room to take stuff to the dump.

If you did that you could then get others on the train to start a thread about sharing public transport with fatties.

You don't actually buy any pasties, you just set fire to the money.

Bedford rascal, replace the brake pads with marzipan. if you don't want to drive then that should put a stop to it.

Nice and comfy but you may have to visit the garage for more than routine stuff!

That would be a must, they could find the extra money I'm sure.
