I don't have the Griff with me at the moment so I wondered if someone could help please? I need to know how wide the passenger footwell is at the battery location and clear of the re-circ flap servo? I need to know how much space is there for the battery and other things(wondering how much i can cram in there!
). Could do with as accurate as poss an answer in cm's please

Its not quite that big! I'm having to fit similar things to std but different types,such as different ecu,2 smaller batteries and my wideband kit. Don't forget the 500's also have the re-circ servo in there. Its a tight fit getting the std ecu down the side of a std battery on a 500!.

Measurements from my aluminium battery box which you'll have seen pictures of.
All measurements are to the outsides of my battery box.
Width 285mm
Height 230mm MAX - this is because of the bolt holding the fuseboard in place.
Depth 178mm
LEFT: This fits to the GRP on the left. There is no carpet over the small sill bulge there. If you wanted to use that space too I think you'd get another 10-15mm
RIGHT: I left what carpet there was here in place. I have the ECU tucked down that side of the box and the carpet makes it snug. The ECU is 40mm
Don't forget there are a couple of chassis bolts at the very end of the footwell. I have the left corner of my battery box cut out to sit over the bolt and I can see the one on the right when I remove the ECU.
Because of the slight rake of the end of the footwell there is a very small gap up near the fuseboard between my battery box and the footwell end. Enough that my battery cables can be squished in there but not enough for a relay though.
I can get you a photo showing how it all fits. Its on ramps now so its easy to stick my head down there. Shout if you need it.

Its 250l x 97w x 142h. And I'm wanting to put them on their side,that way I keep the 97mm depth and total length is 284 combined. I realise I'm a bit over on height compared to your 230mm but I can get around that 
THe 284 total length will obviously have cables added but should still fit I would think

Are you thinking about putting them face-to-face so the terminals are on the inside?
That way you bridge them easy and have a +ve and -ve at the top.
Where are you putting the ECU? If its not against the tunnel like I have it you'll have enough space.
These batteries come with a screw in male terminal but you don't need to use them though. You can use what I think is an M6 bolt.
I've only got the -ve terminal fitted so I can pop it off easily and +ve is bolted in to keep it tucked out of the way.

I was guessing I would have to put the terminals facing each other to save space,like you say there won't be too much spare room! I was either going to put the ecu under the dash or along the side of the transmission tunnel,probably the former. My only other alternative which would give the capacity is using a red top 60 but at the expense of another inch of legroom so I'd like to stick with the 2x30's plan and try this first. Thanks so much for all your help I really appreciate it. I've a long list of things needing crossing off at the moment and body off is only weeks away so I'm frantically trying to get all of these awkward jobs sorted now.

I tried my cardboard mock ups earlier today and found that despite the fact they give 3" more legroom I still couldnt put my legs out straight,so a 'no-go' then probably(Mel may have shorter legs but probably not by enough!)
What I also tried was putting one behind each seat and that looks like it'll work fine.They look like they will fit even with the seat fully back and the seat reclined to a comfortable position,and with the seat like this and no battery in the footwell there was plenty of legroom and my feet couldnt touch the bulkhead or fuseboard
. So I'm ordering 2 Red top 30's and will give one last try with them in the footwell but with Mel in the passenger seat just in case her legs are short enough to make the difference,otherwise they will go behind the seat.I just have to work out a neat and tidy way to mount and hide them as best as possible.I'll take some pics when the real batteries arrive and we place them where they will go .SSPPGG said:

Thanks,I saw that which is what made me take a closer look. I had dismissed this out of hand in the past as the recess appeared too small and to be fair it is for an Odyssey/redtop 30. It looks like I have three mounting options behind the seats which will all work but have different neatness and ease of mounting advantages. I could mount them on the floor as far back as possible,I could mount them as far back in the recess as possible or I could possibly cut out the recess to fit the battery like the chap in the link to his modded Chimaera did.
