Now TVR have a new owner, how about a new engine, a V8, you know that's what you REALLY want, one with 100% reliability, NO finger follower problems, good enough for Andy Burrows and his Gardner Douglas Cobra replicas.....

Nah I reckon a new evolution of AJP engines is on the cards.... more power with better design to address its shortcomings is just what the doctor ordered

Using a Chevy or Ford engine would be a very good idea. Reliable and powerful, and available with manual transmissions to match them.

Buying engines in would give TVR one less headache to worry about - they can put efforts into improving build quality.

Free country I guess, free speech, but this really irritates me. Yes there were issues early on but to be making a sweeping generalisation really upsets me and the current owners of speed 6 cars. Stop trying to stir up trouble and devalue our cars.

My 4.5 AJP is coming up for 50,000 miles and it is sweet and powerful. However it would be interesting to drive a Cerb with a Jag/Ford XJR supercharged 4.2. All that lovely torque and so much cheaper to service.

I'm not really too keen on forced aspiration myself -- all that extra whiny or whooshy noise... Still, witjh the new owners there is some chance of the AJP8 seeing the light of day in another model. Which is nice

Cheaper to service, how did you figure that out?!

The service has everything to do with hourly rates and nothing to do with parts cost.
My local TVR indie charges £35 an hour labour. By comparision, Jaguar dealers charge between £60- £100 depending on who you want to believe. Once you figure in parts costs, oil and dreaded VAT the servicing will be WAY bigger at the Jaguar dealer.

Simple, it has far longer service intervals and when they occur it needs far less work.

why on earth would you want to use a dinosaur of an engine like a yank v8?, the ajp motors have far more charachter and horsepower per litre and much lighter and compact. Standard 4.6 ford v8s only make 260 bhp and weigh a ton, the Chevy even more.

When people say a car/engine has "character", they usualy means it's tempramental and breaks down a lot...
