How easy is it to build a Ultma?

Can someone with little to no hands-on experience build one of these beast with minimal assistance from the factory?

BlackMonday - The 3 most important things are enthusiasm, time and patience. Although I would not recommend a complete & utter novice take a project like this on. But, with a little mechanical knowledge and a methodical approach will see you through. Also, the factory is always very willing to give telephone help and the owners club is a good resourse for help & advice.

When it comes the to the Ultima Can-Am I have all three criteria

What resources (books, web, etc) can you recommend reading before starting on this project.

I'll check out the Ultima Owners Club next...

Thanks, Ultimapaul

Depends on your route, if your planning on building your own engine then I would recommend 'How To Rebuild Your Small Block Chevvy' by David Vizzard.
As for useful help with the build of the car then the best resourse is the other owners who have been there & done it. You'll find they are more than willing to give help and advice. Visit as many Kit Car shows and the like and explain to any owners of cars you see what you are doing and most are more than glad to talk you thro' the build. Join the owners club and attend any meeting that are planned to glean more info from the other owners, you may even find some willing to come round and give praticle help.

On top of the time, patience & enthusiasm I would also recommend the following,

A good size garage/workshop.
A comprehensive tool kit. (No real specialist tools required).
A sympathetic partner (if applicable).
A basic understanding of how cars go together.

If you want to E:Mail me with any questions which require more detailed answers then feel free to do so. I would also be happy to talk over the phone to find out what your plans are and how to achieve them.

I absolutely agree with paul.

I built mine 6 years ago, its a lot easier now, just do it! I know people that have successfully built Ultimas with very little previous experience.
