Alexanders Prestige
Discussion
Does anyone have any experience of this dealer in terms of quality of stock, car prep, after sales service etc?
They have a V8V which interests me.
Also, can anyone advise on the cost of a 140 point check on a V8V from a main dealer for a car such as this?

Have you seen this beauty for sale? Newer car, less money, refurbed wheels, 2011 Sat Nav update, better spec (2007 MY had a number of upgrades over earlier cars), new clutch? They have a V8V which interests me.

Hi Craig, I had seen your car for sale and have thought about it carefully as it strikes me as a car which wants for nothing.
I suppose the thing that has stopped me picking up the phone is the mileage. Irrational as it may be I am not sure I would be comfortable buying a car where the mileage starts with a 4.
My concern would be resale value in a couple of years if the mileage started with a 5.

I looked at an identical car there last year (could actually be the same car).It was immaculate, they were selling it on behalf of a customer. They often have some nice cars in stock and are quite laid back, no hard sell.I would have bought the car if they had offered a realistic P/x price for my car.
The bottom end of the market is @ £30k for a 2005 80k mile car (private sale). If a car is well maintained there is no reason for mileage to put anyone off at this end of the market.
I think Bogie's car has over 60k now? A car used regularly will be much less likely to cause problems than a garage queen imho

Wow, I didn't know Vantages came in grey!
140 point check takes 3 1/2hrs I believe if done properly. So depends on dealer's hourly rates which are usually well over £100/hr.
Independent Aston Specialists do them as well for a lot less as their labour is less! However it's probably a pre-purchase inspection you need, roughly the same cost.

I think the only thing with a high miler will be to check the history on whats been replaced already. MOst cars will want suspension by 80K miles I would think ...a good excuse for an upgrade, but something to be aware of when considering the price
my steering rack has a bit of play in it now at 60K miles, so thats a potential £2K ish bill, add a clutch at £3K in the next 12 months, some suspension in next 18-24 months etc and potentially the 60-80K mileage age cars could have potential large consumable bills on the way
saying that, there are often stories you read about people buying low mileage garage queens out of warranty, thinking they are getting a good mint car...then finding themselves with all the warranty fixes to do out of their own pocket, that are done early on in cars that get used regularly
so as always, condition and history will be everything in assuring you have a good experience ...maybe worth spending £5K more and getting something a bit newer ....loads of choice in the £30-40K space

I've also just advertised my car which has only done 15,000miles and is in mint condition.

I've not bought from Alexanders myself but they are very close to where I live and have been in on many occasions. They always seem to have good quality stock and they've been around for some time. I did look at a V8 they had a couple of years ago but it was similar price as main dealers at the time so never followed it up as dealer was better value IMO.
If you are located some distance away, I'd be happy to call in a look over the car (cosmetically not mechanically!) for you.
