One of those days when everything seems to be going against yme.
So having a bit of a st day already but I've got loads of nice new presents for the Chim so thought i'd start with the new gauges I got from ETB. After admiring them for about 30mins (they look amazing) I thought i'd fit the fuel sensor as i'd already removed the other.
Does not fit!! frown it would fit, if there wasn't some weld on the inside of the sender hole. This slight bit of extra weld means i can't fit the new VDO tube type sender in the hole. What a pain in the arse, now i'm going to have to take the tank out so I can file/grind the weld out then I need to clean the tank out.
I need to look through the forums now to see how hard it is to remove the tank, i'm guessing it's not easy.
The quality control on this car is a bit of a joke, never mind, at least when I'm done it will be reliable

Why are you blaming tvr quality control when the original sender was fitted without issue?

The original sender just has the dip pipe so didn't really matter if the hole was the size it was supposed to be.
The new unit is a tube though and needs the full diameter to fit, if that makes sense?
It just looks like who ever built the tank just put way to much weld on it frown

It's a handmade car at the end of the day. It's why we love them just as much as why they frustrate. When it was built the component was made to fit correctly and now someone else is supplying a different part,so why should it fit? Perhaps the supplier of the new part should have found a better replacement,or stated that its non original and modifications may be required to make it fit?
Don't get frustrated and go Grrrrrr...smile Just enjoy the fact that its not a Ford or Vauxhall with their perfectly fitting bits to their boring cars winksmile

/me notes that it's mainly Ford and Vauxhall bits that seem to fit our cars in the first place! biggrin
