Considering fitting a DAB radio (would have to have CD control) as well as upgraded front speakers. Dont feel like having rear speakers.

Not looked into cost yet, but wondered if anyone has done it and how well it worked with the Chimaera aerial. Does it perhaps even solve reception problems?

Cheers

If you're going for rear speakers, I'd filter out the higher frequencies on them otherwise you'll get a confusing soundstage. I think most of the high end Pioneer head units can do that for you.

With the factory supplied DAB the box is put in the boot area (depending upon which car you have). The very early press car that P Wheeler drove had a bee-sting ariel on the boot. He was trying out the system. When fully functioning they are brillaint, however some area are better than others, so check with a local specialist first.

Early Tuscan fitted with DAB can get interference from the rear indictors in some cases, as when they were designed no mention was given in the design brief for this radio type (therefore it hasn't been allowed for).

Get the stereo system right and it's brilliant. Rear speakers are a must to anyone wishing not to hear the superb noise they make without the audio equipment on!!

I have a DAB radio/CD with the DAB bits in teh head unit so no extra box to fit - easy!
The aerial is run under the carpet and into the boot. I have fitted the small bee-stinmg unit out the way near the upper side of the boot. Great reception !

I understand that in areas that have no digi reception it goes back to normal reception? How often does this happen? Is it like the old days of RDS?

Yep if you run into an area with no DAB it returns back to FM but havingtravelled around 1/2 of england in the last few weeks I can't remember it doing it a great deal at all. Best reception is along the motorway routes - clear sound all the way.

My "all in one" head uint with CD player was around £800 and £45 for teh aerial/cable.

It is a bit cheaper to buy the DAB box of tricks and another head unit but you have to then fit the extra box somewhere that wont get in the way.
