Factory fit Sat Nav Systems
Discussion
Think you need to be specific in model years, as the E39 5 series (96 - 03 ish) had both CD rom based sat nav (crap) and DVD based, which was pretty good. E60 5 series (2004+) all have DVD, so ok.
The early A6 small screen sat nav, again CD rom is rubbish but the later RNS-E DVD based wide screen nav is pretty good.
No experience of the Mercedes systems so can't comment on that.

How old a car are you looking at? I know my dad 6 series has a street name only nav which is s
te. Some are part postcode and other like said street name & number.
Ultimately you'll be better off with a £150 tomtom or similar as they're updatable via your computer. Car ones need new discs which are £100+. However, you do then need to be sticking the portable nav to your screen everytime so can be a pain with wires in the 12v power supply.
