Discovery TD5 Clutch/DMF woes
Discussion
I'm looking for a bit of advice regarding a vibration through the cluth pedal. Since i bought it 3 years/30k miles ago the release bearings been a bit noisy for the first few mins of a cold morning, the noise hasn't got any worse so i've just left it alone. Yesterday, after about 100 miles on the motorway i pulled off the motorway and could feel a strong vibration through the clutch pedal just at the biting point when changing gear. From looking at a few forums it looks as though i'm looking at a worn release bearing, spigot bush or the DMF. The cars done 132k and is still on the original clutch/flywheel so it's done well.
At the moment i'm torn between doing the job myself with a mate who has access to transmission jacks and engine hoists, or farming the job out to my local landie specialist.
Does anyone on here have experience of tackling this job? Is it best to take the engine out or just the gearbox? I think i'm tempted to change all 4 bits at the same time as it's such a bit job in the first place.
Any advice is much appreciated.
