What are people doing with there bonnet catches???

Well I've always found them crap, I noticed c6rby has bonnet pins and they don't look bad at all, worried that on a standard car pins may look a bit out of place. Up till now I've been using Velcro as a helping hand but today on the way back from duxford that managed to pull the scuttle off as well.
Can the standard be made to work properly and reliably or is there a mod that sorts it???

Search fuction isnt working at the mo so im a bit stuffed.
Basicly just dont trust the standard set up anymore, and what i have is completly forked now with broken and bent bits all over. If i could find a nice looking alternative i think id go for it but a bit unsure about messing with what is basicly a nice late (ish) car. any chance of some pics??

As dangerous goes the standard pins are, I used to have a problem with the pin's popping as I went over expansion joints over Motorway's, it would pop one side sometime's both. I have another bonnet that has the pins on & they are a pain to. I managed to fit some small dia. Rebar into the bonnet arms, I then drilled a small hole & fitted grub screws each end, so far so good !
ye its a bit of banter, if you buy the ones that are bonded in, and they fail after 3 months cuz they are made of crap materials, then you,d be thick end of a day swapping them

Mine used to rattle like crazy (although never actually popped out).
Solution:
1) fitted new nylon ends (from TVR Car Parts) and spent a little time getting the lengths *just* right on the ends of the metal bar. Aruldite in place.
2) Fit little rubber grommets (from any electrical factors) to the metal retaining holes either side, to make the pins fit extra snug.
3) New rubber mushrooms on the centre. I melted the metal centres out of a couple of old tyre valves, cut down the stem and pulled through the hole. Superglue in place.
Result - 100% solid when locked. Occasionally I have to push down on the bonnet slightly when locking, as I think a left the mushrooms a fraction too high, but its such a minor thing, I haven't been bothered to readjust.

Are you missing the rubber grommets inside the metal retaining holes? Mine was missing one and the other was knackered, which left the nylon ends rattling (and of course wearing). You can get them from Racing Green for just a few pence. Combine that with ordering some new rubber mushrooms for the centre of the scuttle and some carefully placed rubber strips, I'm virtually rattle free.

I replaced the grommets and adjusted the bar properly. The bonnet still jumps about a bit but i have done 160mph without a problem. I did hear on here that most Cerbs are missing the little spoiler that goes underneath the car. That is meant to stop the bonnet bounce. If I found one I would fit it, but
