Just noticed this split in the intake hose downstream of the air meter...

I reckon she must have been running a little lean... not good when supercharged!

Who said it was a finger? ;^)

I thought about repairing the split but there are more of them all along the hose so it's scrap - I have some of that aly stuff off an SDi so I may well use that but tart it up somewhat. Maybe spray it green to match the bodywork...

Well sorted out a bit of old SD1 hose which just about fits (too tight on the throttle body end mind so it split a little hence the extra tape.)

Seems to make a huge difference - now it revs more freely all the way up, and also on startup only needs to run for 10 seconds or so before it will idle.

Looks a bit crap but will do for now until I find a replacement - the old one I see was a Ford part so maybe off a van or something? Does anyone recognise it - it would be good to stay original.

Hi Adam

Should it look like this

It looks like the hose from a 350i have you got the inte dimensions, if so speak to Tim at ACT.

The old one was shown in the top of the post - both ends have a similar smaller corrugated outside (but smooth inside).

Hi Adam

As mark says it could be a V6 pipe, I have a few you can chose from, but it could also be a V8 350i pipe!

Its all down to your inter sizes of each end if a SDI pipes fits to me a 350i pipe will be closer!
Come and try a V6 pipe

The Zig one looks like my old one - is it 3" diameter (or thereabouts) at the end?

That's not to say it could be improved by going to a smooth bore - it's a tossup between staying original and blingy purple silicone.

Hi Adam..The ends measure around 72-73mm ID so not too far off of 3"..They are smooth but the centre section is concertinaed..Smooth bore is better as it doesnt expand and contract when accelerating..The choice is yours gringo...Ziga

I noticed that mine had also split recently (Tasmin 280) and I replaced it with a smooth bore black silicon pipe from ACT - goes alot better now!
