We've finally had a day of nice weather, so I took the opportunity earlier to give the Celica a good wash, haven't really had much chance since the start of April so it was looking a bit dirty.

Gave the wheels a good coating of wheel cleaner to get rid of all the brake dust that had built up, and sure enough a blast with the pressure washer got them looking gleaming again.

Fast forward to a couple of hours, I have to nip to the shops to get some supplies and by the time I get back (around 4-5 miles) the front wheels are covered in brake dust again.

I think they're EBC red or yellowstuff pads - can anyone recommend any that give good performance on road and (occasionally) track, but that aren't going to coat my wheels with crap every time I go for a quick drive?

Less dust usually means more disc wear.

EBC Redstuff are the low dust ones. Yellows are excellent, but dusty as hell.

Have you tried any wheel treatment (wax or suchlike)? It should make the dust stick less and be easier to clean off.

Contrary to popular belief, brake dust is mostly disc material. So pads considered less "dusty" are usually the least agressive compounds.

Useless fact of the day over. As you were. smile

I've never been happy with EBC products and nowadays I go for Mintex 1144 compound pads.
