I don't usually post here as I 'belong ' on other forums. lol

Anyway, credit where credit is due. A mate bought a new SLS coupe and took me for a drive and then let me take it out myself.

What a stunning car. Not sure if they have changed the suspension from the launch cars? i found the ride to be very good and comfortable. It was a dry sunny day here yesterday and the roads have been dry for ages. he says it is a bit hairy in the wet. In the dry it seemed very stable. No understerr, although I was not pushing too hard, I think!

Effortless to waft around in, but when pressed it delivered! Certainly faster than my Countach QV, not as fast as a Murci,

Amazing car. Thank goodness manufacturers continue to build such cars.

My mate has ordered a convertible. Will be interesting to see how that feels.

I will go back to where I belong now!

Paul ,
Welcome to the 'other side' !

The SLS is a wonderful , outrageous motor car , which excels as a grand tourer and a supercar . It's extravagantly made and beautifully appointed and a brilliant design .

The fact that it returns 22 to the gallon and the first annual service was less than 300 pounds , is a bonus .

Having said that , I spent an inordinately long time lusting after the Countach as a small boy !

Same mate being greedy (ordering a convertible when he has a coupe) or different mates?!

I love the styling of the SLS, had a poke around the red demo in Glasgow Mercedes and thought the exterior and interior both look fantastic, and the sound is just sublime - good to hear good reports of them driving well also, now all I need to do is sell the house, the wife and the dog and I should be able to get one wink

Hi Guys

thanks for the welcome. I have driven quite a few of the AMG cars before. used to annoy me with older ones having the big yellow warning triangle telling me I have been naughty!

It is the same guy who is getting the drop top. not sure when but possibly soon. Will be nice to go play in that too.

i don't think i was getting 22mpg!

Great car. I don't quite get some of the criticism of the car. Although in fairness I don't quite follow some of the road tests and the praise they heap on some ordinary cars which ride in the most awful fashion!
