I want to buy a telly.
A bloody huge one that's "quite" good.
I don't want the absolute latest / top of the range as they tend to be more than I will appreciate, but don't want old technology even if it is much much less. I tend to like middle of the road stuff. I'll connect it to an XBMC with a host of entertainment available so I'm not really interested in the "Smart" features of it. Am just looking for a bloody good picture (will have a BluRay 3D player attached) - sound will be via a separate Hi Fi (via Optical SPDIF).
So I've come up with this puppy
http://www.binglee.com.au/samsung-ps64e550-series-...
Which translated into real money is about £1,700. Except prices over here seem to be odd as when you say you want to buy it, they randomly knock about $300 off.
Anyway, any recommendations in the form of "no way" or " have you considered this one"? Budget isn't as much a concern as getting the right set.
Thanks
Ben

said: It is a big room, but i didn't consider that point - that it might be too big. That's like a car having too much power, isn't it?!
In general, yes. It is more about viewing distance than room size for me.
As long as you are sitting 15 feet away from it that size screen will be fine. Don't forget that many people are running 150"+ projector screens in normal sized rooms.
I've been to see it in a shop and you're right - the screen is so big that the quality isn't there.
They did have a Samsung ES8000 and that thing is simply amazing.
The set costs more but having seen the quality difference side by side playing the same Bluray disc, it's like chalk and cheese so I'm going to go for that one.
PS. Don't like the Chrome, Do like the 5mm bezel
