...per subject title.

I want to do some experimenting (and I promise it will not involve animals).

Condition - not important, as it will be refinished anyway.

Thanks
Nosh

how urgently do you need it mate?
i've stripped mine down and wire brushed it clean.
the holes are all the wrong sizes for my gauges so i'm contacting some places to get a new one cut. but i want to keep mine just as a template so might be a couple weeks yet

Not urgent and happy to wait - I am in no rush...

Can I have first dibs?

  • chuckle* I wanted your radio panel so that I could get that and a new style dash panel reveneered before taking my old ones out - then I could just swap them over in a day.
So I'll have an old and a new radio panel available and an old dash panel at some point. biggrin

OK - I have a suggestion - if you're really not desperate Nosh (because I just had the ECU done so funds are a tad low right now and I have a feeling that reveneering will be expensive) then I have your old radio panel already and If I can get that and the main dash panels reveneered (I don't think my skills are good enough to do it myself) and swapped over then you can have my old dash panel(s) and then we're "square", yeah?

So if that works for you then how about JonyTVR grabs brett84's?

Anyone know what heater / blower switch is used on the later dash as I think the hole size is different to my early dash?

I have a late main dash panel not needed any more if this could help any body . I have a early dash in my chim that i have reveneered . I was going to veneer it and only use the warning light holes that were needed and leave the other ones covered up.

I bought a "late" main and radio panel - the idea being that I would get those re-veneered (ideally by myself) and then use those to switch with the existing "early" ones in my car - moving the indicator and high beam repeaters up to the main dash panel using some very nice warning lights that I found at Car Builder Solutions Online.

The problems I've found so far are:

1) The "early" radio panel isn't easy to swap for the "late" one - so I just blagged Nosh's old one when he'd finished to get that re-veneered and I'll keep all the existing warning lights in the radio panel as well as running "new" ones in parallel up on the main panel.

2) The later dash seems to have the correct size main and secondary dial sizes (99mm and 53mm respectively) but the later fan switch hole is 29mm whereas I'm told the fan switch hole on the early dash is 24mm so that's going to be a pain.

I tried re-veneering the "spare" later radio panel myself and it didn't come out well so I've just emailed out to a few places to get costs and confirmation on what exactly they'd do otherwise I'll just end up letting the whole thing drift.

yup I would like to try and fit the 'later' type too, just much prefer the looks of it especialy the stereo panel and light switch. my plan was to try and source both panel of the later type and I would get my mate whos and auto electrician to change all the switches round for me. (easy way) OR any I could get to use as a template and make my own and use whichever warning lights and switches I want (harder but more preferable way)so I would be hugely grateful if there is anything going spare.

As with Nosh guys, any spare upper early dash's please let me know. I'm wanting to give mine a spruce and it'd save me having to strip mine right back again !
