Hi all,

A friend has an M6 and today it randomly started having the following issues:

Transmission and abs failure on i-drive
Heads up display flickering
Speedo needle dropping to zero then coming back alive.

I'm thinking battery or alternator, or does anyone know of any specific problems relating to this. Thanks

Something does spring to mind with regard to those issues. I think there was an issue with the idrive that gave some owners similar problems. Has he checked for water in the footwell, I know some of the related electrical gubbins lives down there. Failing that check the software version and see if it needs an update.

Search m5board.com as I reckon the info is on there.

Thanks,

car is driven approx 2-3 times a week at least 30 miles each time. Problem seems to be intermittent, went for 40mile drive with no issues whatsoever.. is it worth taking it to get the battery tested?

Yeah, but take it to a dealer. These cars are funny about having thier batteries played with.

I had very similar issues to those you describe. Had the battery and alternator replaced and everything is now fine. Recommend you start there also.
