cannondale slice 105/2011

Hi guys
thinking of getting above bike for short trips from work about 15-20 miles each way.Have been offerd one for good money £1350 shop soiled and am wondering what your views are on these bikes.could anyone post up a piccy of a 2011 model as my colour sceme appears to be a 2010 makeup.the bike has no marks on it and no damage its just got slightly dirty bar tape.My ride at the mo is a cannondale six 13 2007 model which i love .....hence i dont like to leave it at work as i could not replace it if she were to be stolen...also got a ribble wet weather bike for our summer rides

isnt the slice a tt/tri bike? i've seen people commute on tri bikes before and they are an accident waiting to happen. the geometry pitches you too far forwards and limits your observation and they arent designed to be that manoueverable so you will tend to wobble at slow speeds..... and extension bars on traffic are a bad thing. again i've seen people use them but its just mental.

its nothing against your own bike handling skills but more to do with the other road users and your ability to avoid them if they do something stupid...

heres a link, not overly enamoured with the spec to be honest and calling it 105 is pretty cheeky when that only refers to the chain, cassette and mechs.... do they use the same frame throughout the range and just add shiny bits to it as they go up in value?

Agree with everything else that Pablo said about commuting on a TT bike, its idiocy and should NOT be done.

thought i may get that response and i do kinda agree with your comments.my route home is not really through traffic as its part of my training route.i used to time trial years back and did train on a similar bike,but that was many moons ago when cars were not so plentyfull.looking around at the mo and just fancied one of these so not 100% sure yet....thanks for the input

The Slice is a great bike, yes the 105 is shocking spec wise but what you are paying for is the frame which I think is well designed. It may look a little dated in comparison to the latest style with head-tube/fork integration, but technically I think its still a cracking choice with the mega-stiff BB30 and thin top tube which apparently makes it comfy. I'm not sure where it stands aerodynamically, but lets face it, the Cervelo P2 is still very highly regarded and that design is years old.

I don't know why people make such a deal about the wheels, they are just there to get the bike rolling as the expectation is to upgrade immediately. If I was spending all that money on a tri bike I would rather make this choice myself rather than suffer what a bike company has specced. The crappy Shimano ones would make great training/turbo wheels...

£1350 is a good price, in the sales it never went below £1700. If the condition is as said, and you genuinely are crazy enough to ride everyday then its not a bad decision.

.well for the first time in my life i listened to advice
went for a ribble ultralight 7005 race frame,sram white group set,upgraded bars,seat pin,and stem.and a nice set of look pedals.all in £860 quid cant be bad....will post up a piccy when it arrives next week.Thankyou for the advice....yes i should know better but it seemed like a good idea at the time.
