F355, V8 Vantage or Evora
Discussion
Guys,
With a budget of about £35K - £40K which would you go for. Bearing in mind the Aston or 355 would not get used as much as the Evora because of the sprog.
Head says Evora S because it's got 2 small seats and will house junior for a couple of years, hence I'll get my money worth of driving, but it will depreciate like anything.
Heart says F355 - Because it's a Ferrari and also I don't think a decent once will depreciate much, down side is that will only do 3-4k per year in it and running coats will be MUCH higher.
V8 Vantage - The wild card, not driven one yet.

An F355. It'll appreciate nicely. Sold far fewer than the later cars and those who were teanagers when it was new are now hitting there 30s and the lucky ones are within range of buying one. Suply and demand puts it high up.
The Evora second - it's surely the best car of the three.
The Aston last.

I'd probably go for the 355, mostly just because it's the 355 - the last genuinely beautiful Ferrari to my eyes.
I'm not so sure about the Evora's depreciation. The Elise varients all depreciated fairly heavily for the first three years or so, then plateaued. I suppose it's quite possible that the Evora will do the same.
The 911 GT3 would be on my list, too.

The 355, because chances are that when you get the evora, you'll end up kicking yourself everytime you are driving along and see a ferrari. I know i would.
Personally though, i'd get a 308 instead, i think it is just so much more beautifull, and it is the granddaddy of all rear v8 ferrari's, even if it is going to be slower and less planted then a 355. Buying it will be cheaper, although you might have more upkeep costs initially. I cant see into your wallet, but perhaps a 308GTB for yourself, and a nice e36 M3 coupe for when the kid needs transporting?

Not sure about the 308 it's too old and think it would cost more to run them the 355. 355 is so stunning and ageless; only I would never look at spending £40K on a car that old but this is an exception. I would need to buy a run around too, thinking may be Golf GTi or an Alfa of some kind? The Evora is best handling car I have even driven FULL STOP!!!! and still quite a rare site, I think depreciation will be a problem tho.

Fair enough, the 308 will require more maintenance then a 355, but over here a 308 can be gotten for half the price of a 355, plenty of cash left to spent on some rust-prevention and the occasional engine work, and off course a daily driver, since you'd be a fool to pop around to the shops in a 308.I can appreciate the evora being a good drive, it probably is one of the best handling cars ever, but i dont really find lotus' that compelling, except for the cut-throat fully stripped down track-toys.
If i might suggest another option, how about a maserati 3200/4200? back seat for kids, italian design, v8 engine.. nice cars those (and your budget should even accomodate a Mk5 quattroporte)

Seen a red 355 F1 in Loughborough a few weeks back. Absolutely stunning. For me it would be that or the Aston, but the Aston really isnt special enough compared to the Ferrari.Evora, definitely. It would seem to fit your needs, plus it can be used as an everyday car. The Aston and Ferrari are both two-seaters and cost considerably more to run, but to what end, given that when you're out on the open road giving it the beans, there's probably very little to divide them for driving experience in the real world.
Oh man the answers are so close it's making it even more difficult. I really need to test the Aston tbh, although I think that would depreciate more then the 355 but be cheaper to run because it's new and will more then likely come with a better warranty.
No definitely not the Maserati, if I could I get a F355 and a Gransport for the kiddie transport.

Evora for me although I own one.
F355 for me just looks a bit dated personally, and the running costs are too high to justify the performance. Sound good though.
Vantage is very grown up, depends if you want a drivers car or not. Sound fantastic, and probably the best looking out of the three.
Evora is the best car to drive out of the three, quickest A-B, and will be the cheapest to run by far. Plus you will get more use out of it with the kids in the back. The rear is small though so I'd check they fit first! All the SC models will still be under the original warranty aswell.
1M just isn't special enough IMO, neither is a Boxster or a Cayman. Granted they are all excellent cars.
GT-R maybe?
