Now I'm out and about in the T350. All I've put in is super unleaded. I just wanted to know what fuel you all put in. And if it doesn't make any difference which one I use. Then I shall just fill up with ordinary unleaded instead.

Put in super/high octane.... it'll prevent engine pinging @ high revs, preserve your pistons, give you marginally more power and save you big $$ in engine repair bills.

Shell V Power or Tesco Momentum 99. Also put in some octane booster too if doing track days.

It runs fine in my experience on regular 95 though when nothing higher has been available.

Always use Super if you can, 95 if desperate. The higher octane content is better for the engine in the long term.

I put my petrol through a filter before using it in a 2 stroke go-kart I have.
Having seen the crap that is in supermarket fuel I would never, ever put it in the TVR.
I know it has a fuel filter, but still...

I'm sorry, but you can't leave a story half told! Or am I the only one that doesn't know!

It's mixed reports I heard every 2-3 tank fulls have v power, cant beleive how many people use supermarket fuel as they think its better due to the higher octane. I'd use bog standard shell fuel anytime over supermarket stuff. They had a stand at the motorshow years ago where a company like audi ran an 2 engines, one on shell and one on supermarket fuel for 1000's of miles. They had small cameras inside them some you could compare them agaist each other.

My Tam would seem to run absolutely fine on 95 ; supermarket or otherwise and touch wood it hasn't had any engine problems to date. (Not the most auspicious comment!).

In what way is it not good for the engine ? Only ask as I'd be interested to know. Having tried it in the Tam, there was no noticeable performance benefit either unless you're into the odd half a second here or there. I think I shall stick to it for the time being personally.

Edited to say There was a previous post saying its bad for your engine but its gone scratchchin

I'm never sure where confidentiality ends?! Make up your own story using the following phrases:

Dom's Sagaris---a motoring magazine with a one word title that really ought to know better---95 Octane fuel---"never quite the same again".

because it'd take ages to explain, here is the link to the relevant wikipedia article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engine_knocking

pinging is the most likely damage, however, it generally puts more stress on engine components than needed.. for a few pounds here and there why take the risk?

If we are just driving normally or staying local we use 95 in both the Tamora and the Cerbera. If we are going to be doing spirited driving we use super unleaded

Also this thread shows on a rolling road the difference between unleaded and super unleaded. (Warning, Power Vs SRR figures within! biggrin )

Personally because I think don't think it's necessary. Time will tell I'm sure.

Where ever possible I have always filled up with Shell Vmax. It's a habit I've got into since my previous car was re-mapped. And now moving onto this car, I saw no reason to change. I only asked the question because if everyone put in 95 Ron and said it doesn't make a hapeth of difference. I would have done the same.
