Hi,

does anybody have a Europa in or around Bournemouth/Poole? I am toying with the idea of getting one for a bit of fun but am worried about actually being able to get in and out (with any sort of dignity still in tact!).

I was fortunate enough to have one of these brand new a long time ago, since then I've put on a bit of weight as well as getting older. About two/three years ago I went to look at a lovely restored Twin Cam which I took out for a test drive I got in it o.k. well just about but after a half hour drive had to crawl out on my hands and knees, so if you are not too tall, slim and agile you'll probably fit. A good one is quite expensive these days but they are lovely little low cars.

I'd imagine they're quite different! Love the latest Europa by the way! smile

Good point, I'd forgotten about the newer car. I still have difficulty with the very wide sill in the new version but its easier that the original.

According to someone I know on the Lotus Forums (which is a good source of info and should be your first port of call) they are a very underated car and the rare SE is the one to try and get. I have to admit to not knowing much about them though.

Have you tried an Elise or Exige?

No I havent, but I am not after a hard core track car, I am after a fun (but relatively) comfortable play thing.

I beleive the Europa is easier to use day to day, so trying the elise/exige isnt really useful

thanks anyway

Meant to say there is an SE for sale at Westovers near where you are, at least you can see if you fit in one it's a rare SE as well.

I was thinking in terms of the getting in & out. If you can manage an Elise or Exige, then a Europa should be easy!

There is one in the showroom on West Quay Road in Poole.
Just go and sit in their one.
