How many post '99 500s?
Discussion
Just saw this advert on PH from a well known TVR specialist quoting "very rare post 1999 5.0 model"
http://pistonheads.com/sales/3760930.htm
This made me wonder: was '99 in any way a remarkable year for 500s and how many were actually made post 1999?
Coincidentally, I'm driving a '00 500 which probably explains my curiosity

I think some time towards the end of production they switched to just building 450's so I guess later 500's could be quite rare. Someone who knows more will probs give a better answer tho! Haha!
What he said. I have seen a 2001 500 that was on the PH classifieds a few months ago. Difficult to put an exact number on it especially as TVR's records are unreliable and the DVLA site just shows 'Chimaera'. I have got some production numbers from 2 sources that I could guess from:-
year 2000 2001 2002 2003
production numbers 238-373 73-102 20-72 4-5
average numbers 2000=300 2001=85 2002=50 2003=5
TOTAL = 440.
All the 2003, 2002 and most 2001 cars were 450's so I would expect maybe 20 x 500's
A fair few of the 2000 cars were still 400's and a good number of 450's. I would guess no more than 70 were 500's. Making approx 90 x 500's produced 2000 on wards.
Now waiting to be shot down in flames by someone who worked at the factory and has a picture of everyone made!
